✨ I sure am missing that back-to-school magic this ✨ I sure am missing that back-to-school magic this year! ❤️🍎

If you’re looking for a wonderful story to start the year with a growth mindset, The Magical Yet is one of my favorites! It reminds students that just because they can’t do something YET doesn’t mean they won’t be able to do it someday. With mistakes, patience, practice, hard work, and a little help from the Magical Yet, they can keep working toward their goals. ✨

This companion is packed with reading comprehension, writing, word work, and math activities that make it easy to extend the story throughout your week. Students can also create their own adorable Magical Yet craft and receive a poetry bookmark with a little pom-pom “Magical Yet” gift. 💫

It’s such a meaningful story for talking about goals, perseverance, making mistakes, and believing in yourself during those first weeks of school.

Comment YET or MAGICAL and I’ll send you the link! ✨

"This resource has so many different activities that go along with the book perfectly. They are ready to print and use. My students love your resources. "

🍎🏃 Take your students on a trip to the APPLE ORCHA 🍎🏃 Take your students on a trip to the APPLE ORCHARD without ever leaving the classroom! 🍏

This Apple Orchard Movement Brain Break gets students up, moving, and learning at the same time! Students will get those wiggles out while practicing identifying numbers shown with ten frames and doing fun animal movements along the way. 🙌

Simply project the slides and GO! When students see a ten frame, they say the number. When an animal appears, they complete the movement while staying in their own space. It’s the perfect mix of math practice + movement and makes a great brain break when your students need to reset and refocus!

Use it during your apple unit, math block, morning meeting, indoor recess, or anytime your first graders need to MOVE! 🍎

The best part? Your students will be begging to play again! ❤️

🦇🐦 Bats and birds both fly…but are they really tha 🦇🐦 Bats and birds both fly…but are they really that much alike? 🤔

This is one of my favorite ways to teach compare and contrast because first graders LOVE discovering the similarities and differences between bats and birds!
Students begin by reading the included nonfiction book and mini reader to learn all about both animals. Then, they dig deeper with reading comprehension, text evidence, nonfiction text features, vocabulary, word work, Venn diagrams, sorting, graphing, and writing activities.

One of my favorite parts is the group project! Students work together to show what they’ve learned about bats and birds, create a final project, and share their learning with the class. ❤️

There are even adorable bat and bird paper toppers to add a little creativity to your writing and displays! 🦇🐦

It’s the perfect fall nonfiction unit for practicing compare and contrast while learning about two animals your students will find fascinating!
