We had a great week of Dr. Seuss fun! Who doesn’t just love all of Dr. Seuss’ stories! The rhyming, silliness, and creativity makes everyone love them!
We started the week with Green Eggs and Ham. Of course we had to try them to see if we liked them! It was fun to read their opinion on foods they dislike! There reasons made me smile. This is the first year I have done prewriting with the children. In my writing packets I offer it with all writing pieces. It has really changed the way they write. I am amazed at how they plan and create their stories with an introduction and conclusion. The other day I gave them a writing page and they had a fit that there was no prewriting. They asked if they could use the back of the page to make their own! Truly made me smile!
In the middle of the week we read The Big Brag and Yertle the Turtle by Seuss. Two stories that teach great lessons. It was fun to share stories with them that they don’t get to hear as often.
On Friday our entire first grade did a huge celebration. We did hat day! Each child came to school with a homemade hat. We took pictures and did a lot of fun activities with my freebie. Check it out below. Here are some of my cuties!
Here is the link to my freebie that we used on that day! The children had a blast! We also did a 1st grade parade around in our hallway!
Here is a picture of the packet I used during this week of fun! It is filled with many word work, writing and literature links for Right to Read!
