Looking for the perfect way to wrap up the school year with learning and laughter? Get ready to make memories with these Pet Day activities your students will adore!

Pet Day Setup
Start the day by inviting students to bring in their favorite stuffed animal pet, setting the tone for a day full of fun, creativity, and with hands-on learning. My Pet Day End of the Year Theme Day includes the printable letters home and pet info sheets.

Pet Day Activities
This purr-fectly planned day is packed with engaging activities that span over many subject areas. Students will dive into the world of animals with a nonfiction reader featuring real photos and a matching mini book to explore facts about common pets. They’ll also apply reading comprehension strategies like identifying the main idea, summarizing, and making text-to-self connections—all while reading pet-themed fiction books of your choice. I’ve also included suggestions for pet-themed read-alouds here on my Pet Day Amazon list. (As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.)

Phonics and grammar skills are reinforced through center activities like syllables, alphabetical order, punctuation practice, and fun games such as verb tense bingo, noun/adjective/verb write the room, and synonyms vs. antonyms scoot. Your word lovers will also enjoy unscrambling pet words, solving a word search, and making new words from letters.

Let your little authors shine with writing extensions, including an “Adopt a Pet” activity pack, opinion writing, how-to writing, and an animal research report. They’ll even help create a class book to introduce their pets, real or pretend!

Math learning gets a playful twist with interactive games like Ten More/Less Scoot, Roll and Subtract Bingo, and Spin, Tally, Total. There are also graphing activities that tie into pet preferences, giving students the chance to work with tallies, surveys, and visual data.

The day wouldn’t be complete without some creative flair! Students will love crafting their own dog or cat with the included templates, making adorable keepsakes to take home.

You’ll also find a full set of center signs, checklists, and a cheerful Pet Day banner to bring the classroom to life. To make things even easier to put together, this pack includes Pet Day Letters for families, snack ideas, a mystery pet activity, and a welcome sign to greet your students.

Pet Day is also a great option for summer camp fun or a themed week to kick off vacation. With engaging, low-prep content that blends academics and imagination, Pet Day is the perfect way to celebrate all your students have learned this year—without them even realizing they’re still learning!
