Valentine Dramatic Play Fun: Create Your Own Valentine Post Office

Every February I opened a post office in my first-grade writing center. My students loved going to this center to write valentines, letters, postcards, and notes. This inspired a Valentine dramatic play center.

Valentine Dramatic Play Post Office

This Post Office Dramatic Play comes with loads of labels to create a magical, inviting space for your children. I love to give each set a store name. This one is called Cupid’s Corner. However, you can use the editable PowerPoint files to customize the post office and make it your own.

The set includes three main components:

1. The Store

In this area, students can purchase stamps, cards, envelopes, and boxes. The set includes money, receipts, store hours, order forms, and plenty of labels to enhance the shopping experience.

2. The Writing Station: “Send a Note Station”

This section is stocked with several no-prep Valentine cards, including “Write a Joke” valentines. I like to include joke books in this area, so students can easily find jokes to complete their notes. The station also features postcards and mini booklets in both heart and rectangle shapes.

My students loved writing messages and delivering them to their classmates’ mailboxes throughout February. We even added class lists from other teachers, so students could write and send letters to other classrooms. At the end of the day, the students gathered and delivered the mail to the other rooms—they absolutely loved this activity!

3. Learning Extensions

This component includes math games and printables, additional writing activities, Valentine-themed books to read, a counting Valentine book, a monster craft, and a fun differentiated sorting activity. I incorporated sorting as it reflects an essential task performed by post office workers daily. Students can sort by initial consonant, CVC vowel, or zip code.

This jam-packed post office dramatic play set promises hours of engaging fun for students. One teacher mentioned,

“I’m currently using this resource to transform my writing center into a postal office for the month of February. We LOVE it! Thank you for all of the cute and simple additions that are making this center a huge hit!”

I absolutely love designing dramatic play sets, and I have many more exciting creations coming in 2025!
