Students spell a word, change just one sound or letter, and work their way down the ladder—building phonics skills step by step. The picture clues make it possible for students to work independently, which makes these perfect for centers, morning tubs, or small-group phonics instruction. I usually preview the pictures together first, and then they’re good to go!
