🦖😂 Get ready for giggles with a twist on a classic 🦖😂 Get ready for giggles with a twist on a classic favorite!

Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs is a hilarious spin on the traditional fairy tale that your students will LOVE. With its funny narration and unexpected surprises, this story keeps kids engaged while encouraging them to think a little deeper about what’s really going on!

This book companion makes it easy to turn that excitement into meaningful learning with engaging comprehension activities, writing, word work, and math. Students will practice key reading skills like sequencing, main idea, text evidence, character analysis, and making inferences, all while having fun with hands-on activities and discussions. Add in interactive games, writing extensions, vocabulary work, and an adorable Goldilocks and baby dinosaur craft, and you’ve got the perfect mix of learning and laughter for your literacy block!

🦔 I have a NEW favorite fall read-aloud! A Bold P 🦔 I have a NEW favorite fall read-aloud!

A Bold Pumpkin Plan by Katy Hudson is absolutely adorable and has SO many meaningful lessons woven into the story. Hedgehog has a big plan to turn a pumpkin into his winter home, but things don’t exactly go as planned! Along the way, this timid little hedgehog learns that sometimes it’s okay to accept help—and he ends up with something even better than he imagined: a cozy home AND new friends. ❤️

This story is perfect for talking about friendship, teamwork, kindness, perseverance, and asking for help while also practicing important reading comprehension skills.
I created a complete book companion filled with differentiated comprehension activities, writing, vocabulary, word work, math games, and more. And the CUTEST part might just be the pumpkin house craft! 🎃🏠 Students can create Hedgehog’s pumpkin home and add their own “My Pumpkin Plan” writing for an adorable fall bulletin board.

If you’re planning your September or October read-alouds, you definitely want to add this one to your list!

"A lot to do this resource and if you are up for it you can purchase small fake or real pumkins to design a house and then create an air dry clay hedge hog. "
🦉 Whooo can resist an adorable owl?! Finding nonf 🦉 Whooo can resist an adorable owl?!

Finding nonfiction that gets first graders EXCITED to read, research, and actually go back into the text to find information isn’t always easy. That’s why I love learning all about owls in late fall and November!

This nonfiction unit turns your students into little owl experts while working on those important informational text standards. Students can read the mini reader, explore headings, captions, diagrams, a table of contents, glossary, and bold words, find facts and details, learn about adaptations, and practice fact vs. opinion. 🔎📚

There’s also a matching colorful book with REAL owl photos that you can project for the whole class, plus writing activities, an owl research report, word work, an owl pellet experiment recording page, and an adorable owl craft! 🦉

You can even finish with a bulletin board that says “Whooo Wants to Learn About Owls?”

One topic = SO many reading, writing, research, and nonfiction skills covered! 🙌

🎃 Add a little Halloween fun to your phonics pract 🎃 Add a little Halloween fun to your phonics practice! 👻🧡

These October Halloween CVC Short Vowel Task Cards are a fun way to get your students practicing short vowel sounds while adding a little movement to your day!
Students look at each picture, determine the CVC word, identify the missing short vowel, and record the vowel on their recording sheet. With 30 different task cards, there’s plenty of practice with short a, e, i, o, and u!

I love task cards because there are SO many ways to use them! Put them in morning tubs or literacy centers, use them for fast finishers, play Scoot, or clip them around the classroom and turn phonics practice into a movement break. You can even use them as a quick assessment to see who has mastered those short vowel sounds.

The cards come 4 per page in both color and black and white, plus you’ll get a recording sheet, answer key, and directions for printing the cards smaller or larger.
🎃 Phonics practice + Halloween + movement = a win for October!

🍂📚 Two passages. One theme. SO much reading compre 🍂📚 Two passages. One theme. SO much reading comprehension practice!
If you’re looking for an easy way to work on compare and contrast, reading comprehension, and fluency this October, these October Paired Passages are ready to print and go! 🙌

This set includes 8 passages organized into 4 themed pairs featuring topics your students will love learning about in October: bats, community helpers, Halloween, pumpkins, and spiders!

Students read each passage, answer the included comprehension questions, and illustrate part of what they read. The passages can also be reread throughout the week for extra fluency practice. 📖

Once students have completed both passages in a pair, it’s time to COMPARE and CONTRAST! Students can use the included Venn diagram to write the similarities and differences themselves, or you can differentiate the activity by having them cut and paste the provided words onto the sorting mat.
The paired topics include Bats & Let’s Make Sock Bats, Firefighters & Community Helpers, Halloween & The Pumpkin Lifecycle, and Spiders & Let’s Make an Orb Web. 🦇🎃🕷️🚒

These NO-PREP passages are perfect for whole-group instruction, small groups, independent reading practice, literacy centers, morning work, or your fluent readers who are ready for an extra challenge.

One resource lets you practice reading comprehension + fluency + compare and contrast while bringing in all those October topics your students are already excited about! 🍂
