🕷️🕸️ SPIDER WEEK is coming... and your reading com 🕷️🕸️ SPIDER WEEK is coming... and your reading comprehension lessons can be DONE! 🕸️🕷️

I LOVE teaching about spiders in October! Kids are naturally fascinated by them, which makes Spider Week the perfect time to work on nonfiction reading comprehension. ❤️

This 5-Day Facts & Details Reading Comprehension Unit is completely planned for you! Just open the Google Slides, grab the featured book, and start teaching. 🙌

Throughout the week, students learn how to recall important facts from nonfiction texts and provide details that support those facts. Each day includes explicit teaching slides, guided practice, interactive activities, and printable worksheets. There’s even an original song to help students remember the skill! 🎶🕷️

And the BOOKS make this week so much fun! 📚 We use Spiders by Gail Gibbons, Diary of a Spider by Doreen Cronin, I’m Trying to Love Spiders by Bethany Barton, National Geographic Kids: Spiders by Laura Marsh, and my included All About Spiders nonfiction book.

I especially love that students get to learn REAL spider facts while becoming stronger readers at the same time. 🕸️ By the end of the week, they’re not just recalling a fact—they’re learning to go back to the text and find details that support what they learned!

You can follow the suggested five-day sequence, teach the skills in a different order, or use the included flexible templates with your own favorite spider books. I’ve also included YouTube read-aloud links, making this easy to use for your regular literacy block, homeschool lessons, or a ready-to-go sub plan.

🕷️ 5 days + 5 spider books + Google Slides + printables + an original song = SPIDER WEEK reading comprehension planned for you!

🐊 Greater than, less than, equal to…let’s make com 🐊 Greater than, less than, equal to…let’s make comparing numbers CLICK!

Comparing numbers can be tricky for first graders, which is why Unit 6 of my First Grade MASTER Math Curriculum gives students LOTS of hands-on practice with this important skill.

Students don’t just compare two numbers on a worksheet. They build, model, solve, and compare using base ten blocks, ten frames, two-digit numbers, addition, subtraction, number words, and more. This helps them understand WHY one number is greater than, less than, or equal to another. 🙌

Each lesson starts with a quick whole-group mini lesson before students rotate through our MASTER Math stations—Manipulatives, Apply Skills, Small Group, Technology, Enrichment, and Review.

And the best part? Everything is planned for you! Lesson plans, hands-on rotations, digital activities, assessments, enrichment, review, and even a fun alligator craft are ready to go. 🐊

Less planning for you + meaningful hands-on math practice for them = a WIN! ❤️
