Had you ever read The Princess and the Pea with yo Had you ever read The Princess and the Pea with your class? 👑🫛 So many of my students had never heard this classic fairy tale, which made it even more magical to share! This mini unit included a 9 page anchor text reader you could use right away, plus tons of engaging comprehension activities, writing, word work, math games, and the cutest Princess and the Pea mattress craft. Students worked on predicting, characters, setting, problem and solution, main idea and details, sequencing, character change, author’s purpose, and more. There were colorful posters to guide instruction, vocabulary activities, retell and opinion writing, and fun math games to keep the theme going. Bonus extensions were included for fractured fairy tales like The Penguin and the Pea, The Princess and the Pizza, The Cowboy and the Black-Eyed Pea, and The Very Smart Pea & the Princess-to-Be, making it perfect for compare and contrast and deeper fairy tale study. This resource was also part of my larger Fairy Tale units if you love building themed literacy blocks.
