This engaging resource is packed with activities t This engaging resource is packed with activities that help students learn all about lions while strengthening informational text skills.

Start with the 11 page mini reader filled with real nonfiction text features like headings, glossary, captions, and bold words. Then project the matching colorful real photo book using the digital Google link, download it as a PowerPoint, or print it for your classroom library.

After reading, students complete comprehension activities, text feature hunts, fact and detail work, schema charts, and writing extensions. They can also research and create their own Lion Report covering habitat, babies, food, fun facts, and more.

The unit includes colorful vocabulary posters with real photos, word work activities, opinion and informative writing, and an adorable lion craft to finish it off. Display everything with the “Lion’s Roar” bulletin board letters for the perfect March hallway display.

It pairs beautifully with a mammal unit in the spring and is such a fun way to build background knowledge while working on informational text standards.

This Otter Nonfiction Unit helps students learn al This Otter Nonfiction Unit helps students learn all about sea otters and river otters while practicing important informational reading skills. Students read a 12-page mini reader filled with nonfiction text features like a table of contents, headings, captions, glossary, and bold vocabulary words. There is also a matching colorful digital book with real photographs that you can project with Google Slides, download as PowerPoint, or share as a PDF.

After reading, students dive into text feature hunts, digging for details, schema building, fact and detail practice, clarifying meaning, text connections, and compare/contrast activities. There are also word work pages, writing extensions, vocabulary posters with real photos, and a full Otter Research Report where students explore habitat, food, predators, adaptations, and fun facts.

And of course… we had to end with an adorable otter craft and bulletin board display. 🦦
